Stew cat fatal to the host of a cooking show, by Francis Chartrand


ROME - The Italian state TV has suspended the host of a cooking show that had shocked the country by saying lover cat stew, a specialty of Tuscany he said.

RAI on Wednesday confirmed it had laid off Beppe Bigazzi, who hosted in 77 years a popular morning program for its revenue, "La prova del cuoco", the test of the cook.

The young woman of 27 years during which the host had opened round eyes and heard it boasted of having eaten "Lots of times" stew of feline familiar.

"Why? People they do not eat rabbit, chicken, pigeon?" had argued the star with white hair.

"He who is not fat, kills a cat" had sued the moderator.

Bigazzi said that in the valley of the River Arno, the animal was allowed to soak in three days during the time that the white meat, and make sure he is delicious.

Secretary of State for Health Francesca Martini deplored the lack of sensitivity of the food critic, and recalled that the cat is an animal protected by law against cruelty, abuse and neglect.

Anticipating the reactions of animal protectionists, Bigazzi had even asked publicly on the air why they do not defend as rabbits. His remarks were a box full on YouTube.
