'Christmas is evil': Muslim group launches poster campaign against festive period, by Francis Chartrand
Fanatics from a banned Islamic hate group have launched a nationwide poster campaign denouncing Christmas as evil.
Organisers plan to put up thousands of placards around the UK claiming the season of goodwill is responsible for rape, teenage pregnancies, abortion, promiscuity, crime and paedophilia.
They hope the campaign will help 'destroy Christmas' in this country and lead to Britons converting to Islam instead.
Labour MP and anti racist campaigner Jim Fitzpatrick branded the posters 'extremely offensive' and demanded they were immediately ripped down.
The placards, which have already appeared in parts of London, feature an apparently festive scene with an image of the Star of Bethlehem over a Christmas tree.
But under a banner announcing 'the evils of Christmas' it features a message mocking the song the 12 Days of Christmas.
It reads: 'On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me an STD (sexually transmitted disease).
'On the second day debt, on the third rape, the fourth teenage pregnancies and then there was abortion.'
According to the posters, Christmas is also to responsible for paganism, domestic violence, homelessness, vandalism, alcohol and drugs.
Another offence of Christmas, it proclaims, is 'claiming God has a son'.
The bottom of the poster declares: 'In Islam we are protected from all of these evils. We have marriage, family, honour, dignity, security, rights for man, woman and child.'
The campaign's organiser is 27-year-old Abu Rumaysah, who once called for Sharia Law in Britain at a press conference held by hate preacher leader Anjem Choudary, the leader of militant group Islam4UK.
Former Home Secretary Alan Johnson banned Islam4UK group earlier this year, making it a criminal offence to be a member, after it threatened to protest at Wootton Bassett, the town where Britain honours its war dead.
Mr Rumaysah told the Mail that he was unconcerned about offending Christians.
He said: 'Christmas is a lie and as Muslims it is our duty to attack it.
'But our main attack is on the fruits of Christmas, things like alcohol abuse and promiscuity that increase during Christmas and all the other evils these lead to such as abortion, domestic violence and crime.
'We hope that out campaign will make people realise that Islam is the only way to avoid this and convert.'
Mr Rumaysah, who said his campaign was not linked to any group, boasted that the posters would be put up in cities around the country, including London, Birmingham and Cardiff.
The campaign was highlighted by volunteers from a charity which distributes food and presents to pensioners and the lonely at Christmas.
Sister Christine Frost, founder of the East London Neighbours in Poplar charity, said: 'The more posters I saw, the more angry I got.
'Someone is stirring hatred which leaves the road open to revenge attacks or petrol bombs through letter-boxes.
'I told the Mayor we are all scared.
'If we said such things about Muslims, we'd all be hanging from lamp-posts.
'The posters appear to be professionally printed'.
Poplar and Limehouse MP Mr Fitzpatrick said: 'These posters are extremely offensive and have upset a lot of people - that's why we jumped on it and asked the council to remove them.
'Sister Christine is rooted in the community and doesn't take offence lightly.
'But these hate posters really upset her. Christmas is close to her belief.'
A Met Police spokesman said they had received complaints and were investigating.
He said: 'We are investigating allegations of religious hate crime in Tower Hamlets following complaints about posters displayed in and around the Mile End area.'
Tower Hamlets mayor Lutfur Rahman said the posters had 'upset and antagonised many residents'.
He added: 'The messages on these posters are offensive and do not reflect the views of the Council or the vast majority of residents.

Personally, I find it silly to see all that shit, but I expect it. Puritanism, and I do not want to scare anyone, but it comes back. Especially these days with Sarah Palin, who dreams of becoming president in 2012. In fact, I even wonder if this is not the Tea Party (organization of Sarah Palin) who did not organize this whole thing very stupid.
She herself has condemned masturbation, while a female candidate for U.S. Senate in Indiana wants to ban masturbation, sex before age 21 across the country, and of course, prohibit the cleavage. By the way, it leads to 64% in voting intentions.
You still think that Katy Perry is not the first victim of puritanical hypocrites? Janet Jackson, avec son cache mamelon qui "tombe" en direct au Super Bowl. The future of the register in the heart of debates, by Francis Chartrand
At least one week of the resumption of the House of Commons question from the register of firearms is the subject of extensive negotiations within the New Democratic Party.
Met in National caucus meeting in Regina, the NDP will discuss farm in the coming days on the strategies they adopt in the House, including the vote to be held next week on the abolition of the register of firearms. The vote promises to be tight if only one or two votes could decide the future of the register to the Harper government wants to abolish.
If the Bloc Quebecois and the Liberal Party was imposed party discipline on the issue, the NDP leader Jack Layton, has preferred to let his members vote their conscience, a position that fuels the debate within the party and leaves the suspense over the future of the register of firearms.
There are less than one year, 12 of the 36 NDP members were in favor of the bill to abolish the registration of shotguns. Three members have changed their position since.
The others are in the midst of intense discussions within the party that holds the future of the register of firearms in his hands. Well, my comment now. There are nearly three years ago, December 16, 2007, I learned from the media that me and Micheline Montreuil were no more candidates. If you remember my story, you understand that I had heard the news through the Toronto Star, and later, 43 other candidates had withdrawn in the following weeks to protest against my ouster.
The reason for my ouster? I spoke in January 2007 against the reasonable accommodation on religious grounds because it threatened the gender equality, equality Canadian / immigrant, equality practicing / non practicing, equal to the origin an immigrant, because 22% of Canadians are of ethnic origin, and in these 22% of immigrants, 79% have fled their country to get away from religious fundamentalism, and 89% have fled their country to take shelter from the dictatorship.
Is it normal to seek the integration of secularism in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms? Of course there is, especially with 4 of 5 immigrants who want to know nothing to religious fundamentalists. In all the left parties on the planet, there is a motion claiming that the state is secular. All the left parties? No. In Canada, there is a political party of indomitable multiculturalists totalitarian and absolute, which still holds to reason, even often challenged by the Canadian Muslim Congress, Sino Canadian Congress, the Canadian Buddhist Federation, and so on . And life is not easy for other political parties, the Conservative Party, the Liberal Party, Bloc Quebecois and the Green Party.
Of course, I was talking about the NDP. The NDP, New Right Party, uh no, New Democratic Party rejected the idea that we talk about the separation of church and state, separation of Mosque and the state, the separation of synagogue and state. To make me feel guilty for having such an idea, I was called a racist, Nazi, pork, anti-Semitic, Islamophobic, in short, even dawn white, despite the fact that immigrants were joined my idea of resolution.
If I understood it in January 2008, the NDP had wanted to put his party line in an absolute policy of multiculturalism, even to get anyone's religion above all freedom of all Canadians of all origins.
Well, let's talk about the party line. What right Jack Layton supports a free vote on the register of firearms? Jack had feet and hands to the National Congress of the NDP in Quebec City in 2006, when he had said that his party would never abandon the registry. What about this speech? A speech that changed to be more elective, probably more to join the Prairies, the home of the NDP. Maybe the party has no funds for election campaigns, so twelve members of the NDP would vote with the Conservatives, and they would because the NDP does not want to go to election.
Anyway, some NDP in Manitoba and Ontario have been elected in 2008 to maintain the national register of firearms, it would be a shame to call into question their seat at the next election, what do you think, Jack!

Burning Qur'an, it was worth it really worth it?
Yeah, why burn Qur'an? It does only add fuel to the fire, in the case to say, fire. It goes only to spread hatred altogether useless. But, needless spread of hatred? While these days, we'll hang a woman in Iran because she has slept with a man outside of marriage?
Burning Qur'an, but why? This week, everyone took the pastor of Florida, Terry Jones, a fool because he wanted to make a bonfire in his own way to burn Qur'an on the morning of Sept. 11, to meet hatred of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, allegedly by Muslim fanatics. Let's play devil's advocate for a brief moment.
How many books have been burned by the Nazis? Nobody knows. How many Bibles have been burned by the Romans? Nobody knows. How manuscripts of Maya and Incas were destroyed by Spanish Conquistadors? Nobody knows.
They say that they are Muslims who have returned to the Twin Towers, as they say the fact that ten million American Indians were exterminated by the big bad Canadian who wanted to Christianize the Aboriginal people during 20th century, dis we burn the Bible? No, the Indians in both Canada and Peru have converted to Christianity, they are pretty weak for that and it's not my problem.
But the Canadian Indians, themselves, leave religion more and more, the better since they follow the whites, but it is foolish to think that the Gang of 18 of Toronto was to convert Aboriginal people to Islam, since there is not a single mosque in any country's reserve. Let us recall the Chief of the Gang of 18 in Toronto who wanted to bomb CN Tower would also to convert to Islam the Aboriginal people to massacre Quebecers.
No, do not burn the Qur'an, it would be cowardly. Rather convert Muslims to, say, rather, apostasy. Imagine: each morning of September 11, we do a ceremony where more than ten thousand Muslims in North America, leave Islam, on Fox News or CNN or RDI. Imagine: ten thousand Muslims at least, perhaps twenty thousand, year after year leave Islam, or choose Christianity or Judaism as another religion or become simply atheists.
Yes, we must fight fire with fire. Let's not try to parley with those who threatened us this week. Let's not play to 'My religion is better than yours', rather to play 'You really think that only Christians défroquent? Well no, and here's the proof.'
What? They try to convert us very well in Canada, let's do the same thing, they want us dechristianize, let's deislamize them. That's it. The ace of spades to the ace of clubs, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. It's not even revenge, is simply put the record straight. We, Westerners, we are not superior to Muslims, but we are not inferior either.
Had we not emptied our churches? Let's help them to empty their mosques. Once defrocked, these deislamized Muslims will thank us. 'I'm as big as God and God is as small as me.' Do not worry, I only target Islamists.

The most cunning of racial attacks, one you probably never see.
Well, my comment now.
Saturday evening July 3, me and my wife went to see the fireworks at La Ronde in Montreal. We were at Bellerive Park, along the St. Lawrence River, and the performance was given by Portugal, a 45-minute fireworks show. The crowd was large as 300 000 people at the Park, 200 000 on the Jacques Cartier Bridge.
On the way back we walk on St. Catherine, for at Papineau and Beaudry metro stations, there is an hour wait to enter the subway too many people, of course. So we thought that would do better to join the Berri UQAM station.
In return, Tania I expressed it a craving. She hesitates between the Pizza Pizza, corner St. Catherine and St. Timothy and St. Hubert restaurant, corner St. Catherine and Amherst. We want to sit comfortably, we opt for the second option. We ordered a "hot chicken" each, plus a line of wine. A very good Chardonnay from Argentina, which I do not remember the name unfortunately. Everything is going well so far, and we pay our bill to 23: 45.
Later, she seeks a McDonald's, we later found corner St. Catherine and St. Christopher, to buy a McFlurry, you know, the blizzard at Dairy Queen. It is used by a ... how should we say? A girl, color, black. She served in what can probably deduct the fifth containing the normal, saying that it is the normal serving, plus she said she has stirred.
Me, I almost never go at McDonald's, too busy to go get something to eat at Harvey's restaurant, the Dairy Queen, restaurant 25th at St. Eustache or the concession stand of Deux-Montagnes, but hey, I did not know not even know what was a McFlurry. So I do not know how to treat her: dirty fucker, cursed woman, fucking thief full of shit, fucking bitch, fucking dirty immigrant, not there I'd be racist.
In this McDonald's, there were many blacks and gays, so I had to shut the fuck up, because you know, I go often to the barricades, when I do not jump it. I preferred whining two blocks away, once we would leave the Gay Village, because I do not know what to say in the restaurant. I imagined, these African-Americans turn into cannibals and these gays turn into cannibals gays, just across from the Circus After Hour, making us spit in the ass, Tania and I, we crunching an apple the mouth, singing "Hakuna Matata" and trampling the flag of Quebec.
I do not even silly. That's what happens when you see hordes of wild African Americans, when we know that now, street gangs from the east of Montreal practice voodoo rituals in addition of deviants of religion of origin, which on behalf of their sexual orientation, practice neo-paganism. When I think of all those hordes of Haitians who fled Papa Doc and Baby Doc and have integrated less than 5 years ...
But hey, times change and people too. Therefore, the next day I decided to contact McDonald to get information or to make clarifications on the nature of this incident, willing or unwilling, or lack of productivity to my girlfriend.
I call in late morning. And I speak to the manager of the service in question, explaining that when I was in a restaurant, a girl asked a McFlurry, and the waitress at the counter serves in what can probably deduct the fifth containing the normal saying that it is the normal serving, plus she said she has shaken.
He answers the most amazing thing ever heard at McDonald:
- Ah yes, the damn fucking white trash girl, wah, wah, wah, she made shit and she wanted more, too bad the girl was frustrated. In addition, she made a delay made all the customers.
I replied:
- Because, you see, the damn fucking white trash girl in matter is my wife, fucking tabarnac! To treat my wife as 'white', you're what color?

Then comes a moment of silence after I coughed a bit to calm him, and I quote:

I contacted the police of the City of Montreal (CMPS), and tell me that I was right to complain. I spoke to two policemen, one from Quebec and one of Haitian descent, who is of Haitian origin advised me not to visit the McDonald's in downtown Montreal, or even Burger King or Buffalo Wings, as he says, the "Negroes" who work there are sometimes racist.
He told me that often the Haitian community make him shame with his gang and I quote again, his "escaped from the container" spitting on the Quebec because we do not walk the streets with 12 gauge and machetes, as Haitians in Montreal is no longer found in their community, like the time when Haitians were rescued from the murderous regime of Papa Doc and Baby Doc.
He also said that I had to hold my ground and do not let me walk around by whatever the ethnic community, for having built the police as well as his family and, in less than a generation, other immigrants can do it is only a matter of will.
He even found a philosophy that I share, it is not Quebecers that should be assimilated to multiculturalism. Multiculturalism is not so bad, but mainly leads to sectarianism and ethnic isolationism. If all immigrants fit to Quebec nationalism with the help of Quebecers, not just ethnic families will experience a better fate, but the people of Quebec will be more appreciated and respected throughout the world. We could all go out a united nation.

Lying to get out is a good thing, by Francis Chartrand
"Lying to get out is a good thing" was the title and theme of an exercise of a French father was outraged we sent Pour une école libre au Québec (see link here).
Everyone in the class their child should copy the text as it stood then correct spelling errors.
No discussion on the merits of this message to correct dictation.
When questioned, the father of the student said he was outraged by this exercise in a class of relativistic secondary school in Quebec in the Montreal area.
I wonder if the teacher who corrected the text has not asked some questions of morality to the student ...
Me, being a teacher, I'd have not corrected his text, I would have made him aware of what he writes if he did not want a 0.
Let's make sure that the message is clear, it's not just spelling errors that should be corrected in schools. Education is also responsible for the development of judgement.

We can found on Facebook a string of unnecessary groups as found interesting groups. And, here and there, we find some fun groups that stand out from the crowd. They show us as often as they can convey ideas that cross the border of virtual ...
Have you heard of "Boobquake" this week? How do you not heard of this idea was hatched female head of a young American? Here is how an idea Women in reply to an absurdity male has spread across the Web as a wildfire. And to think it all started with the aim of a sermon right-thinking Iranian Ayatollah!
Indeed, last April 17, Ayatollah Kazem Sedigh, imam of Friday prayers in Tehran, was quoted by the Iranian daily Aftab. The latter told his followers the power (unknown) of women on Earth: "There are many women who do not dress decently [...] that can prevent young men astray, corrupt their chastity, which increases earthquakes."

The quote that goes around the world (and who made many people laugh) fell into the ear of a young blogger outraged American Jennifer McCreight. On a whim, she decided to open a Facebook group to propose a female experience quite anecdotal. Thus was born the "boobquake."
The idea is to check this absurdity by inviting a maximum of liberated women to reveal their cleavage, just to see if it would increase the earthquakes. In my case, I do not really need a specific day to wear a plunging neckline! And yet, despite all my efforts, I never managed to trigger one small earthquake.
The success of this Facebook group has quickly surpassed the expectations of its organizers. Initially, Jennifer McCreight had launched the idea as a joke ...
But since it was a joke and there is nothing more frustrating than to hear such nonsense, tens of thousands of women have cleavage most challenging their wardrobe last Monday (in over those who are without even thinking!).
All this not to cause or be vulgar, but simply to participate in a bizarre scientific experiment.
After all, has said the young American student, said that if the imam is true, try to prove ...
Operation "Boobquake"

That said, the young woman in question is surprised anyway. She would never have thought that running a small Facebook group could make as much noise! Not to mention the excitement that can also be found on Twitter ...

Canada would be far too lax in applying its rules on immigration and refugee policy. Studies show that terrorists and Islamists manage to enter the country pretending to be political refugees. This is due in large part to the way Canada treats refugee cases. While most countries do not let in on their territory that 15% of asylum seekers, Canada lets in more than half. In addition, Canada is not enforcing its policy of deportations correctly. A refugee found guilty of terrorist conspiracy and subject to deportation in 1988 still lives in Canada.

Rights & Democracy demonstrates its financial transparency, by Francis Chartrand
The International Center for Human Rights and Democratic Development announced today that it has engaged the firm Samson Bélair / Deloitte & Touche to conduct a forensic audit of financial transactions between 2005 and 2009. In announcing the interim president, Mr. Jacques Gauthier said that the purpose of this audit was to ensure full transparency regarding the proper use of taxpayers' money.
"Democracy requires an obligation to explain that while rights require accountability of work," argued Mr. Gauthier. "As an institution that receives 11 million dollars annually federal government, ie taxes Canadians Rights & Democracy has a duty to report on how these funds are spent. In addition, we have a responsibility to ensure they are properly managed."
The acting president also said that neither he nor the board does have evidence of misconduct individually. However, financial reviews have identified transactions that require the attention of forensic auditors. "We asked the professionals to give us the exact picture of certain contracts and transactions made over the last five years."
Representatives of the firm Samson Bélair / Deloitte & Touche, who undertake the audit immediately, should be able to present a report and recommendations within three weeks. "The results will be released as soon as possible, that is to say when the report is accepted by the Board of Directors," Mr. Gauthier said finally.

A confrontation between dozens of students from high school and St-Maxime Laval police erupted in the early afternoon on the grounds of the school, in Chomedey.
Approximately 200 young people have defied the police, in addition to throwing rocks and chunks of ice.
Not since Tuesday to understand why the situation escalated to this point.

A hell because of the Muslim danger, that we, Quebec native, could not do atheisation, a neglect that suffered today, primo Arabs and Muslims settled in Canada, and secondly Canadians who must live with the most pluralism state (erratic tell my girlfriend) in the world.
In a recent article, I noted the exquisite beauty of Arab women sadly veiled by religion. As some of my detractors, I quote: "You'll find her beautiful? I also find it delightful. How lucky it was as rare a name is repeated? Not much.
So her mother wrote to me as what she said 2 years ago that I would have usurped the identity and the name of her daughter, from ethnic origin, to try to make believe that visible minorities would be related to my cause secular (as if I invented the resignation of a candidate), which precluded any possibility of being racist.
How the fuck could burst? In late December 2007, when we use to fight to shed light on my ouster of the NDP in Rivière-des-Mille-Îles, I received a press release explaining the resignations of candidates for nomination in several ridings in Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta and Nova Scotia.
One of them attracted my attention, the one of Dounia Natasha Chikhani, a girl who was member of my riding association. I had to sign his membership card at the end of the concert of the School of Music Francine Mondou, in June 2006. That was 3 years that I knew she wanted to do politics with me, since I had had an impact among young people under 20.
When I saw her name, I call her at home, asking her : "Dounia did you do a procedure to be candidate to the federal election?" She said no, and I assured her that she could tell me the truth, as if what she resigned in protest against my ouster, I am grateful for her solidarity. And she confirms me that she does not know what I mean. However, she confides me that her parents were angry against me after an article published in La Presse.
I asked her what they were against me, they are Egyptians, they are not Muslims, but Christians Copts. The Christians Copts were driven out and are always driven from Egypt. The article in La Presse remembered that I left on reasonable accommodations, secularism, secularization of Canadian society and my atheisation theory for youth made me look like an intolerant.
She told everything to her mother, which attack at my mother in the evening by telephone to threaten us.

Stew cat fatal to the host of a cooking show, by Francis Chartrand
ROME - The Italian state TV has suspended the host of a cooking show that had shocked the country by saying lover cat stew, a specialty of Tuscany he said.

Anticipating the reactions of animal protectionists, Bigazzi had even asked publicly on the air why they do not defend as rabbits. His remarks were a box full on YouTube.

Did you know that in Canada there are people who have the power you pack your home because you're the wrong race? The Band Council of the Kahnawake reserve, just across from the Honore-Mercier Bridge between Châteauguay and Saint-Constant, has received complaints that the 25 white, often couple with mohawks, interfered with the Local purity.
Most fascinating in this story is that the band seems to have the law on his side. In 1981, he has banned mixed marriages remain on the reservation except those who were married before that date. The law has vindicated the band council to control marriage within their territory:
In 1981, the community announced a moratorium on mixed marriages, which meant that non-natives who married Mohawks after that year would no longer have the right to live on the reserve. Any non-native who had married a Mohawk before the moratorium is still permitted to live on the reserve.
In the 1980s, some Mohawks contested the policy before the human rights court, but lost. The courts have ruled that Mohawks can make any membership policy they deem necessary for their survival as a people. Full article in the National Post:

The radios who are silent, by Francis Chartrand
Corus Entertainment silenced two of its radio stations. AM Info690 Montreal and AM940 Montreal's Greatest Hits ceased operations Friday night at 19 pm
For Corus Entertainment, "it is clear that stations Info690 and AM940 are not viable". The company claims to have lost one million dollars per year for the past eight years, with two radio stations.
The broadcaster said this decision despite the fact that "Corus Quebec and its employees have invested time and energy to revive these units".
This decision affects 10 private broadcaster posts in total. These are positions of journalists, columnists assigned to traffic as well as operations staff.
However, Corus will retain eight of the ten affected employees: Five journalists and three columnists to traffic will be diverted to other stations in the group, such as CKOI and 98.5 FM.
Corus news does not cease to exist because it will serve all our partners, such as Radio North, and will be present in our network is in Quebec City, Trois-Rivieres, Saguenay, Ottawa short, everywhere where they broadcast.

The CRTC will recover the operating licenses of the two AM stations.
Info690 station whose call letters are CINF was began broadcasting in December 1999. She took over from CKVL present in the radio world Montrealers since 1946.
Info690 was owned by Metromedia CMR, which subsequently sold its radio holdings to Corus Entertainment. The company employs 466 people in Quebec. The direction of Info690 had already eliminated 12 jobs in the newsroom in February 2009.
A changing media landscape

Info 690 in Montreal and 940 News were in service since December 1999, when CKVL 850 was spent at 690 and CIQC 600 was spent on 940. Why? Because radio frequencies are allocated to consortia. And that CBC and Radio-Canada had no more their AM stations. CBF had increased to 690 and 95.1 CBM 940 was passed in 88.5.
The management of Corus (CKOI, CFQR, CKVL, CIQC) wanted to acquire two radio channels of all news, as Bloomberg Radio WBBR 1130, WCBS 880 or WINS 1010 New York stations that can sometimes catch a vehicle in the Montreal area. What was to be a first in Canada.
At the same time, the same project surfaced in the management of the CBC. And they are Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa for their pilot project, a "RDI" and "Newsworld" on the AM with the local traffic to 10 minutes, the national weather for 13 minutes and a reminder of the headlines 15 minutes.
Project Name: Info Express and News Express. In Montreal, the CBC is still the owner of AM frequencies 690 and 940. The solution: take them back. Anyway the CBC were other ambitious projects: the TV Arts (now ARTV), Bande à part, which would see the day to 104.5 as CBC Radio 3 which would see the day 91.9 and Sports Extra in French on the AM frequency 900 and in English on AM frequency 650.
If all the projects had emerged, we would have in Montreal: the First Channel 95.1, Espace Musique at 100.7, Bande a part at 104.5, Info Express 690, Sports Extra, 900 CBC Radio 1 at 88.5, CBC Radio 2 to 93.5, CBC Radio 3 to 91.9, Express News Sports Extra 940 and the 650. That's a lot of radio stations with our taxes, you say. But what does think the CRTC?
The CRTC had therefore asked the SRC to determine in its many projects. And while Corus would recycle its 2 stations, and CKVL CIQC, then cut the CRTC to move forward in granting a all news license. And refusing to be beaten by the CBC, Corus plans to move its frequency to those who belonged to the CBC. CKVL passed to the former CBF and CIQC went to former CBM.
Then came the 2000s, a decade when people became more and more followers of MP3s, listen to more music. People let go of the format "talk radio", always more and more disgusted by the current international, political correctness, the sports disappointments Montreal (Canadiens less present in the playoffs, the Expos between life and death), and the consequences of September 11 leaves a climate of fear which does taste more people to learn. Finally, the era of "I don't wanna know" and "I don't give a fuck" begins for a decade.
Even the station attracted more than 1 300 000 listeners in 1995, CKOI, falling to 600 000. People have CD players in vehicles. CD engraved replace MP3 MIX 96, CKOI, CKMF, CHOM. The sports websites replace the sports programs at CKAC and CKGM short, the website will play a major role in the future of radio, as well as other forms of media.
Then came the 90s, where the failures of the Canadian and Quebec society are felt. The Oka Crisis, the failure of the Meech Lake Accord, the referendum failed about Charlottetown Accord, the first Gulf War. People are moving away from more information and more.
We go to merge the two largest networks of private talk radio, Radiomutuel and Telemedia. In Montreal, Quebec, Chicoutimi, Hull, Sherbrooke and Trois-Rivieres, stations will close in 1994 as CKLM 1570 in Laval. Thus is born the network Radiomédia, born of the merger September 30, 1994, a network that Astral Media will own, in addition to Rock and Relaxation Radiomutuel on FM Radio which will become Energy (CHIK 98.9 in Quebec City, IGBC at Three Rivers, CIKI 98.7 in Rimouski, Sherbrooke CIMO 106.1, 94.5 CJAB in Jonquière, Drummondville CJDM 92.1, 99.1 CJMM in Rouyn-Noranda, CJMV 102.7 in Val-d'Or, CKMF 94.3 to 104.1 CKTF Montreal and Gatineau), to become Energy from 2001 to 2009, eventually becoming NRJ in 2009, curiously the extension of a network with the same name, but in France. While his station anglophone Montreal Astral, Virgin Radio, is also an extension of a network with the same name, but in the United Kingdom.
We come back to talk radio. CIEL 98.5 FM closed its doors in 2000, Corus (an Alberta company buys the frequency to a sister station to CKOI; CKOO aka COOL 98.5, an alternative rock station (which I loved to listen for that matter) who undertook format every year. In 2001 it became a modern rock station, becoming in 2003 a classic rock station, and January 5, 2004, becomes CHMP (Le FM parlés de Montréal).

CKAC is found in the morning with Mario Langlois morning, Jean Lapierre in the morning, Pierre Mailloux in the afternoon, sports fans to return to 4:00 PM, Canadiens games and Alouettes, Ron Fournier, Jacques Fabi to the night and Serge Plaisance and Roger Drolet during weekend.
However, having a high quality radio entertainment, this is where everything is upsetting. Astral Media talks to sell the 6 stations Radiomédia but wants to keep CJAD 800. The future of the station has been questioned in recent years due to the decline of AM radio in Quebec, while in recovery throughout the rest of Canada.
Quebecor wanted to buy the station, but this offer was blocked by the CRTC to avoid excessive media concentration. A consortium comprised of Radio North Genex and then offered to buy the station, but has since withdrawn the offer. In 2004, Corus Entertainment has offered to buy CKAC and other Astral stations for the price of eleven million dollars. The CRTC approved the transaction in January 2005. But it will not be without consequences.
The intention of Corus was initially to close the newsroom of CKAC to redirect content to sports and health. This has angered a wide audience perceived the traditional content as a cultural institution in Quebec.
And there begins a hell in which Corus sailed with both feet, as Corus owns 3 stations "talk radio" in Montréal, 98.5 FM Parlé, CKAC, and in english, 940 Montreal (Info690 being that of all news radio). On September 14, 2005, the format of continuous disclosure of 940 becomes 940 News Montreal, format "talk radio" to compete on CJAD, still owned by Astral and his rivals in the ratings with Joe Cannon in the morning, Jim Duff return (sometimes I listened), Charles Adler, in the afternoon on all the stations "talk radio" Corus across the country, and Coast to coast, the "talk radio" live during the night.
An appeal was launched to the Canadian federal government to cancel the purchase of Corus, but the newsroom was officially closed May 30, 2005. Recently the station has been criticized for his columns on sex in prime time. On 1 March 2007, CKAC announced that effective April 2, 2007 the station broadcasts only sports news and concentrate only on the sports field. Yes, it closes the famous newsroom CKAC, operating since 1922.

Yes, the future of talk radio darkens. And it scares me. Because radio stations where there are open lines where people can express themselves remain one of the vertebrae of our democracy. But if I wanted to censor, keep the public in ignorance, attack the knowledge and information, I would not take otherwise. I would cut off the microphone to all these leaders open lines and I would put some music, and some sleepy music.
Sleep, public asleep.
Because a listened radio by a radio audience is healthy.

Emmanuelle Sophie Anne Chriqui, a Quebec actress of Moroccan descent, born December 10, 1977 in Montreal, in a Jewish family (well, well, half Arab, half Jewish) was elected January 19, 2010 Issue 1 of the list of 99 most desirable women of 2010 made on Askmen.com. In 2009 she was ranked number 12.

Attempt to Break New Irish Blasphemy Law, by Francis Chartrand
Last Friday morning in Ireland, about 30 minutes after a new law took effect with the new year that makes blasphemy a crime punishable by a fine of up to $35,000, a group of Irish atheists invited the government to prosecute them by publishing 25 blasphemous statements on an Irish Web site.
As The Lede explained last July — when the bill was signed by Ireland’s president, Mary McAleese — even though Ireland’s Constitution calls blasphemy a criminal act, the police force had no legal means to prosecute blasphemers.
According to the updated Irish Statute Book, the criminal blasphemer is defined as someone who “publishes or utters matter that is grossly abusive or insulting in relation to matters held sacred by any religion, thereby causing outrage among a substantial number of the adherents of that religion, and … intends, by the publication or utterance of the matter concerned, to cause such outrage.”
On the Web site Blasphemy.ie, Michael Nugent, a writer and co-founder of Atheist Ireland, wrote that his group was trying hard to break the new law because it is “both silly and dangerous.” Mr. Nugent explained:
It is silly because medieval religious laws have no place in a modern secular republic, where the criminal law should protect people and not ideas. And it is dangerous because it incentives religious outrage, and because Islamic states led by Pakistan are already using the wording of this Irish law to promote new blasphemy laws at U.N. level.
Given that the law explicitly states that the intention of the blasphemer has to be to cause outrage, it is not clear if the Irish atheists have really succeeded in breaking it. The 25 statements published on Blasphemy.ie are largely inoffensive quotes from people like Jesus, Mark Twain and a fictional character in Monty Python’s “Life of Brian” that are unlikely to ever fill the streets of Dublin with enraged protesters.
What makes the Irish group’s attempt to break the law seem particularly tame is that it came on the same day last week that an axe-wielding man in Denmark tried to attack a cartoonist who offended millions of Muslims by publishing a drawing thought to show the Prophet Muhammad with a bomb in his turban. Say what you will about the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, which intentionally published 12 cartoons mocking Islam in 2005, but that publication certainly showed how to cause the kind of outrage described in Ireland’s new law.
If the Irish atheists had wanted to make sure that they were breaking Ireland’s new law, they could simply have republished those cartoons, as the blogger Andrew Sullivan did last week in response to the attack on the cartoonist.
Indeed, some observers in Ireland, noting that the country’s Christian leaders made no public request for the legal prohibition on blasphemy to be made enforceable, have guessed that the government may have been acting mainly to restrain any Irish publisher from following the lead of the conservative Danish paper in offending Muslim sensibilities. David Quinn, a former editor of a Catholic newspaper in Ireland, told NPR that the new Irish law may have been introduced not to placate Ireland’s Christian majority, but because “there was a fear that we might get a Danish cartoon-style controversy in Ireland — that some newspaper might publish something that Muslims found highly offensive — and it might have repercussions for Irish trade in the Muslim world.”
