Who Is Behind The Islamic School Being Planned For West Edmonton?, by Anne Humpheys

Many citizens living in the Lessard district of West Edmonton have expressed their concerns regarding the opening of an Islamic school in their community by the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC), the local branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Brotherhood was founded in 1928 by Hassan al-Banna. Itsmotto is: "Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Qur'an is our constitution. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope".

Shortly after some citizens expressed concerns in the West End News about the background of the promoters of this K-9 school, CTV and the Edmonton Sun reported that the Edmonton chapter of the MAC threatened the local paper with a civil suit. Instead of trying to defuse the concerns of the citizens by explaining how their goals and objectives were compatible with individual freedom, the MAC's leaders in Edmonton are trying to silence their critics.

Point de Bascule (Tipping Point) has been set up to expose the subtle ways used by Islamists to promote their agenda. The text that follows focuses on identifying the objectives pursued by the Muslim Brotherhood and it provides many links towards various statements made by its leaders in the past. Another text will follow in the coming days that will deal more specifically with the tactic of legal warfare frequently used by the Islamists to prevent any discussion about their agenda.

The concerns expressed by the citizens of Lessard are not only justified, they should be taken into consideration by the authorities. Up to now, the government has been silent on the issue. The citizens have no other choice but to challenge the Islamists willing to abuse the legal system in order to shut down responsible inquiry.

Issam Saleh

Issam Saleh, the chairman of the Muslim Association of Canada's Edmonton chapter, told the Edmonton Sun [August 19, 2010] that "a tiny handful of people exhibiting Islamophobia are spreading distortions and outright falsehoods about the organization". "Our lawyers are compiling a case and we're considering legal action," added Saleh.

Saleh holds different positions, including one as an advisor to the City of Edmonton:

City of Edmonton, Community Services Advisory Board - Click [HERE]Edmonton Islamic Academy, Board of Trustees - Click [HERE]From teacher to construction entrepreneur - Click [HERE]Daybreak Painting & Decorating Ltd - Click [HERE]

In his interview with the Edmonton Sun, Issam Saleh admitted that the MAC follows the teachings of Hassan al-Banna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. In this, he conforms to the pledge found on the MAC's website:

"MAC adopts and strives to implement Islam, as embodied in the Qur'an, and the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and as understood in its contemporary context by the late Imam, Hassan Albanna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. MAC regards this ideology as the best representation of Islam as delivered by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

What kind of positions has Issam Saleh taken in his five-year stint as an advisor for the City of Edmonton? How does someone implement Hassan al-Banna's principles while being on the Advisory Board of a major city? Edmonton residents must take a look at this issue.

Hassan al-Banna (1906 - 1949)

A summary of al-Banna's ideology can be found in a 50 point manifesto that he submitted to several Arab leaders in 1947. The manifesto has been added to al-Banna's book Towards the Light. The Muslim Brotherhood republished the manifesto in 2007. It is available on its Ikhwanweb.com website. Ikhwan is the Arabic word for brothers and it is commonly used for identifying the Muslim Brotherhood [Al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun].

The manifesto promotes among others the abolition of political parties and the establishment of a single party system which is pure totalitarianism. It also favours the modification of the laws so that they conform to shariah and the multiplication of associations dedicated to promoting the spirit of jihad amongst the youth. Faced with the Egyptian authorities' refusal to implement al-Banna's program in 1948, his organisation launched many acts of terror in Egypt and even assassinated the Prime Minister (New York Times December 29, 1948).

In his essay On Jihad included in the book Five Tracts, al-Banna explains that "it's an obligation for us [Muslims] to fight against them [the infidels] after inviting them [to join Islam], even if they do not fight against us". [Five Tracts, Translated by Charles Wendell, Berkeley, University of California Press, 1978, p. 147]

To inspire his troops, Hassan al-Banna recalled in his essay To What Do We Invite Humanity? that in history many leaders experienced modest beginnings before finally achieving "success and fortune". He mentioned several Muslim warlords who inspired him. Only one of his sources of inspiration was non-Muslim. It was Adolf Hitler.

Beside the terrorist organization Hamas that acknowledges its relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood in the second article of its charter [HERE], the Muslim Association of Canada is more than likely the only other branch of the Brotherhood openly stating its connection with Hassan al-Banna's organization and ideology. The observation is made by the Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Report, a website that monitors the activities of the Brotherhood throughout the world.

Youssef al-Qaradawi (1926 - )

Today, the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Yusuf al-Qaradawi, frequently reminds us through statements made in the Arab media that the Islamist organization is still a fierce enemy of individual freedoms.

In recent years, al-Qaradawi promoted the killing of apostates from Islam [islamonline.net] and the killing of homosexuals [video 5:27], he introduced Hitler as a messenger of Allah who came to punish the Jews [video], he urged Muslims to conquer the West [video], he favoured female genital mutilations and so forth.

When the Islamist militants behind the Edmonton Islamic school project declare that they will "adopt and strive to implement Islam, ... as understood in its contemporary context by Hassan al-Banna", they are announcing that they will devote their efforts to teach and make these principles triumph.

In his book Auspices of the Ultimate Victory, Youssef al-Qaradawi states that the penetration of the Islamist ideology in the West can be explained by the groundwork brought about by the Muslim Brotherhood and by the contributions in petrodollars made by Gulf state billionaires. Al-Qaradawi also expressed his gratitude to Saudi Arabia for distributing for free all around the world "many millions of copies of the Qur'an ... in model English and French translations".

The Hilali-Khan translation of the Koran

The English translation of the Koran being distributed by Saudi Arabia is referred to as the Hilali-Khan translation [Online copy - click HERE]. It is, by far, the most popular in English speaking countries. The translation approved by the MAC's mentor is generally being used in the English schools set up by the Muslim Brotherhood.

One excerpt from this English translation will suffice to illustrate what is being taught in MAC's schools.

After the verse 2:190 that discusses jihad, the translators have added a footnote to prevent any misunderstanding regarding the meaning of the word. Click [HERE]:

"Jihad (holy fighting) in Allah's Cause (with full force of numbers and weaponry) is given the utmost importance in Islam and is one of its pillars (on which it stands). By Jihad Islam is established, Allah's Word is made superior [...] and Islam is propagated. By abandoning Jihad (may Allah protect us from that) Islam is destroyed and Muslims fall into an inferior position; their honour is lost, their lands are stolen, their rule and authority vanish. Jihad is an obligatory duty in Islam on every Muslim and he who tries to escape from this duty, or does not in his innermost heart wish to fulfill this duty, dies with one of the qualities of a hypocrite."

Jamal Badawi

On a 2007 MAC webpage, North American Muslim Brotherhood leader and Canadian national, Jamal Badawi, is listed as a director of the organization. GMBDR reports that Dr. Badawi is a leader in many of the most important organizations of the Muslim Brotherhood including the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Council on American Islamic Relations (Canada), the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA), the Muslim American Society (MAS), and the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR).

Before being chosen to be part of the MAC leadership, Badawi had justified Muslim suicide bombings as a legitimate tactic of jihad on a 2006 IslamOnline Internet forum. He had also issued in 2004 a fatwa for IslamOnline that was outlining six conditions in which a wife may properly be beaten " (if she) persists in bad habits".

During the two trials of the Holy Land Foundation that led to the conviction in 2008 of several members of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood network for financing terrorist activities in the Middle East from the United States, the prosecution presented as evidence an internal memorandum of the organization. The original Arabic version of the memorandum and its English translation have been archived by The Investigative Project on Terrorism. Jamal Badawi is identified on page 12 of the English translation as a member of the leadership structure of the Brotherhood in North America.

This internal document also clearly mentions on page 7 the goal pursued by the MAC and all the other organizations affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood in North America:

"The Ikhwan [the Brotherhood] must understand that their work in America is kind of a grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions. [...] It is a Muslim's destiny to perform Jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes."

The original memorandum in Arabic and its English translation are available [HERE]. The highlights of the memorandum are available [HERE].Ekrima Sabri

Over the years, the Muslim Association of Canada has endorsed many radical Islamists whose views are completely incompatible with the mission that a school should pursue with the children under its responsibility. One of these radicals is Ekrima Sabri (aka Ikrimah Sabri).

IslamOnline.net (in 2002) and Steve Merley of the NEFA Foundation (in 2009) identified Sabri as the khatib (imam, prayer leader) of the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem and as the mufti of the city. Merley added that Sabri is a member of the Islamic Fiqh Academy in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) that also includes U.S. Muslim Brotherhood leader Taha Al-Alawani, as well as other members associated with the Brotherhood.

In 2009, IRFAN-Canada invited Sabri to give a lecture at the Centre Culturel Laurentien, one of the MAC's facilities in Montreal.

The poster written in Arabic and produced for the occasion is archived on Point de Bascule. Click [HERE].

IRFAN-Canada is a branch of the American IRFAN (Islamic Relief Fund for the Afflicted and the Needy) also known as the Jerusalem Fund. The Jerusalem Fund was one of many Muslim Brotherhood affiliates that were designated as non indicted co-conspirators in the two trials that were discussed previously. The list of the co-conspirators is available by clicking [HERE].

As for IRFAN-Canada, it was disqualified in April 2010 from issuing donation receipts for income tax purposes after the Canada Revenue Agency had stated that it did not have its books in order and had failed to provide required documents.

Many subtitled videos featuring Ekrima Sabri are available online. Viewing some of them could be helpful to better understand the principles of the MAC who welcomed him in Canada.

Two weeks before the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Sabri implored Allah to destroy Great Britain and the United States on Voice of Palestine Radio. Click [HERE].

In October 2000, the Al-Ahram Al-Arabi periodical from Egypt asked a few questions to Ekrima Sabri on various topics, including suicide bombings. The organization MEMRI has supplied an English translation available [HERE].

Here is the transcription of two Q&As:

Question: "What do you feel when you pray [for the souls of the martyrs]?"

Sabri: "I feel the martyr is lucky because the angels usher him to his wedding in heaven. I feel the earth moves under the occupiers' feet."

Question: "Is it different when the martyr is a child?"

Sabri: "Yes, it is. It's hard to express it in words. There is no doubt that a child [martyr] suggests that the new generation will carry on the mission with determination. The younger the martyr, the greater and the more I respect him."

When Sabri alludes to a wedding in heaven, he is referring to various verses of the Koran [44:54 52:20] that promise many young virgins (houris) as a reward to those who died while waging jihad.

When an organization like the MAC wants to open a school and sponsors fanatics who dream of sending children to their death, when an organization pledges to follow the teachings of Hassan al-Banna who was openly advocating for the "promot(ion of) the spirit of jihad amongst the youth", it is the duty of responsible citizens to further their investigation and to do everything they can to stop this cancer from spreading in their vicinity.

This article will be followed in the coming days by another one that will focus more specifically on the Islamists' favourite tactic of suing their critics in order to silence them.

The government proposes to add 30 deputies

The Conservative government of Stephen Harper tabled a bill Thursday that would add 30 seats in the House of Commons.

The project goal is to ensure a more equitable representation of provinces that experienced in recent years, high population growth, said Steven Fletcher, Minister for Democratic Reform.

Ontario would receive around 18 new MPs, while British Columbia and Alberta have 7, 5.

As for the other provinces, they retain the seats they currently hold. Quebec is, therefore, assured of keeping its 75 MPs.

"The bill also guarantees Quebec and all other provinces the current number of seats they hold, even if their population does not justify it," said Steven Blaney Thursday, Conservative MP for Lévis-Bellechasse.

Still, if this bill is adopted, the total number of seats will increase from 308 to 338. The relative weight of the provinces where the number of seats has not increased thereby lessen Mechanically with 75 seats out of 338, the political voice of Quebec will be lower than 75 seats out of 308.

The only way to regain the province of political clout in the House of Commons would be the demographic with a higher birth rates or immigration, as was suggested by Steven Blaney.

The Bloc Québécois has denounced the new government's attempt to change the composition of the House of Commons. This is, he said, a political ploy. The Bloc DeBellefeuille Claude spoke of the reform as a partisan maneuver to the detriment of the Quebec nation.

Canada - They wanted to convert Native Americans to Islam and the Quebecers inciting genocide

The group of alleged terrorists arrested in Toronto in the summer of 2006 would have had the intention to convert the Quebec Native to Islam, to get them to kill all Quebecers to make the province to First Nations.

This was said the RCMP informant Mubin Shaikh trial of one of 11 defendants in this case. The 20 year old is accused of conspiracy, but it can not be named because of his age at the time of the facts alleged against him.

This allegation of murder conspiracy, even genocidal, against Quebecers is a new element in the case. All targets of the alleged terrorist group identified so far were located in Ontario and the group would have intended to hit the CN Tower, the CBC building, the headquarters of the RCMP and CSIS in Toronto the building of the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa and Pickering.

According to the informant Mubin Shaikh, the alleged leader of the group planned to convert Aboriginal people of Quebec to the Muslim religion, for they killed all Quebecers. The objective of this project would have been to Montreal, Quebec and the rest of the province with First Nations.

Mubin Shaikh said that the alleged conspiracy planned in Ontario and Quebec have been undertaken by importing weapons and bombs purchased from Tamil terrorists who have traveled through Mexico.

The alleged leader of the group had even considered buying a property in Opasatika in northern Ontario, to plan its operations and protect themselves against the forces of order in the event that the group was discovered.

Strategy Defense

The defense seeks to demonstrate that the alleged leader of the group was a visionary who had crazy ideas and who had neither the money nor arms, nor the fighters to carry out all these plots.

The cons-examination of Mubin Shaikh also reveals that the leader was penniless his group believe that the money would eventually come through fundraisers in the Muslim community. To hear the scale of plots incurred by the alleged leader, Mubin Shaikh admitted to the bar he did not know whether to laugh or shake the projects were so ridiculous and improbable. Only the alleged leader believed that his ideas were realistic, "said the witness.

Mubin Shaikh said that the suspected terrorists would be split into two groups because of deep disagreements over how to conduct a holy war in Canada.

The trial continues.

Canada - A haven for villains, by Francis Chartrand

Canada would be far too lax in applying its rules on immigration and refugee policy. Studies show that terrorists and Islamists manage to enter the country pretending to be political refugees. This is due in large part to the way Canada treats refugee cases. While most countries do not let in on their territory that 15% of asylum seekers, Canada lets in more than half. In addition, Canada is not enforcing its policy of deportations correctly. A refugee found guilty of terrorist conspiracy and subject to deportation in 1988 still lives in Canada.

Canada is hosting an organization that glorifies jihad and recruiting for terrorist organizations, by Iba Bouramine

All these years of cultural relativism, of accommodation and political correctness on radical Islam Canadian bear fruit. By dint of imagining that all the radicals are equal, we focus on the wrong targets. Radical Islam is rising and we do not even need to look to find them, they appear! One of the most radical movements of the Islamic world, Hizb ut-Tahrir has just moved openly in Canada. This movement is a kind of conduit for organizations like al Qaeda. He plays the role of agency recruitment and training for organizations Terros which themselves apply jihad in its most violent and also seeks, among other things, terrorism to advance the cause. For decades the Hizb ut-Tahrir acted secretly in the United States, organizing meetings and conferences under the name of organizations-screens. But things have changed. He became more rebellious and do more cache to spread its ideas in North America.

Hizb ut-Tahrir is an international movement which has the goal of restoring an Islamic state or caliphate-world - which encourages Muslims to support jihad. Its particularity is to provide resources to terrorism. The movement recruited and indoctrinated individuals unstable then we find in organizations 'act' like al-Qaida. One of these former members is Kahlid Sheikh Mohammad, an organizer of the attacks of September 11. There was also Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Hambali, head of Jemaa Islamiya terrorist group and Asif Muhammad Hanif and Omar Khan Sharif recruited by Hamas to carry out attacks in Tel Aviv.

Hizb ut-Tahrir was founded in 1952 by Sheikh Yaqiuddin Al-Nabhan, a man whose worldview was shaped by the Muslim Brotherhood, but found that the Brotherhood had become too moderate! After participating in the coup that failed in Egypt and Jordan, the Hizb ut-Tahrir was considered so radical it was banned throughout the Middle East. He then moved to Europe and after the fall of communism, it has spread in Central Asia.

It is difficult to estimate the number of its members. He certainly has grown since the attacks of September 11, said Madeleine Gruen, a principal analyst for the NEFA Foundation. In 2003 it was estimated that the movement had ten to one hundred thousand members worldwide. Today, this movement, active in forty countries, nearly one hundred thousand members not only in Indonesia and "several hundreds of thousands" in the world, according to Mrs. Gruen.

In the U.S., Hizb ut-Tahrir were hundreds of members. His ideology is a mixture of orthodox Islam, Marxism-Leninism, anti-Semitism and opposition to liberal democracies. Even if it arises in non-violent movement, the Hizb ut-Tahrir advocates, "the same vision and goals that al-Qaida," according to experts like Madeleine Gruen observes that the Hizb ut-Tahrir expands recruitment activities on a much broader basis.

Even if he does not organize terrorist acts, Hizb ut-Tahrir glorifies jihad and accuses of terrorist organizations like Hamas do not be so hard on Israel. In a brochure posted on its website July 1, the organization said that if the caliphate there, all of Palestine "would be cleared of occupants Jews" and brought "into the fold of the Islamic state."

HTA is also obsessed with the alleged nefarious U.S., President Obama and the capitalist system. This can be seen casting a glance at the titles of articles posted on its website.

The spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir emphasize that their organization is not engaged in terrorist activities and affirmed that the United States and Paskistan want to delete because they fear his fight for justice for Muslims .

Bullshit meet the criticisms. "Freedom and justice sought by hypertension can be achieved by violence, as it is to overthrow democracies." This was particularly backed the director of Center for Eurasian Policy Hudson Institute. Zeyno Baran.

Testifying before a Senate committee, Baran said: "It is unlikely that the Hisz ut-Tahrir is involved in terrorism. The terrorist action is not part of its mission. But this movement serves as training camps ideological and political Islamists. I have described as "a conveyor belt to terrorism".

The war against English, by Richard Martineau

Richard Martineau
Journal de Montréal
03/12/2009 05h58

Yesterday, in Le Devoir, the lawyer Julius Gray published a load rule against those who want to strengthen the law 101.

"Overall, it is time to stop the battle against the English," said the defender of individual rights.

What? There is a battle against the English? In Quebec? Tell me where it raged, Master Gray, for me, all I see is the opposite, ie a slow, painful erosion of French in Montreal.

EXCUSE MY FRENCH

My wife visited a "nail bar" in the city center. All information on products and services are in English only, and the clerk is unable to utter a single word in French.

We will park our car. The officer is unable to speak to me in my language, and throwing a tantrum when I ask him why he did not speak a word of French while working with the public.

We go into an activity center for children with our 20 month old son. All rhymes distributed during the workshop are English and 80% of the indications given by the instructor are in the language of Mordecai.

EN FRANCAIS ONLY

My wife points to a yoga class. The teacher does not speak a word of French, even if 75% of these people are speaking.

Last week, Montrealers were invited to an exhibition of hip young designers. Name of the event? The Smart Design Mart, "a unique platform comprised of a variety of talented young designers," said (in Klingon?) the invitation.

The website is unilingual English.

Two weeks ago, I went to a fundraising event for the benefit of a support organization for troubled youth. The indications were in English only and the organizers did not speak a word of French.

I go to a Italian restaurant: the host is unable to speak to me in my language. I go to a restaurant in Chinatown: unable to get served in my language.

I go to a furniture shop Service in English only.

All this in a few days.

A war against English, Master Gray? Really?

QUEBEC IS RACIST!

Have you read the survey that we published on the world of work in Montreal? You are unilingual English: you experience no problem getting a job. You are unilingual French: they refuse to hire you because you do not speak English.

Before yesterday, my wife enrolled in a class of stationary bike in a gym. The teacher speaks only English, even if 12 customers are speaking. My wife goes to see the girl at the front desk to complain about: the girl is a unilingual anglophone.

Back at home, my wife tells this story on Twitter.

Lesley Chesterman, a journalist for The Gazette, reads his entry and becomes crazy.

"I stopped following a Quebec media person on Twitter Because of all her Anglo bashing," she writes.

Then: "It's the only thing I hate about living in this province. It's racist and it drives me crazy. I'm tired!"

It is racist, now want to be served in French? Well.

NO PROBLEM

Meanwhile, Andre Pratte La Presse wrote that "the erosion of French in Montreal is a figment of the imagination, and Julius Gray says the time has come" to stop the battle against the English. " You're joking, or what?

Muslims should learn to build bridges with others instead of claiming the minarets, by Raheel Raza from the MCC

When the church bells ring in Saudi Arabia, the minarets will rise up in Europe.

TORONTO -

The Swiss have said no to mosques with minarets in a referendum that has just taken place. Nearly 58% of voters were against the minarets. In certain regions of the sequence, the proportion reached 70%! Leaders of the Muslim world have condemned the referendum as usual and have proposed a boycott of Swiss products. Are we going to stop eating cheese and Swiss chocolate or stop buying Swiss watches are renowned for their accuracy?

The referendum is indeed an important occasion for Muslims to seek to understand the deeper meaning of the Swiss rejected it as a warning to undertake major internal changes. Tariq Ramadan, a popular preacher who has recently visited Canada, spoke eloquently of the beauty of Islam, but he always forgets to mention the internal problems that beset the Muslim communities in the West, particularly in Europe: problems that slides under the carpet when addressing large audiences.

And therein lies the problem. Yes, Islam is a beautiful message for me and many Muslims. But it is not as good to many people and that is what we must learn to recognize and accept. The beauty of Islam must be demonstrated in our daily interactions with others, and not aggressively projecting our religion or we cover the face.

We have become people who plan aggressively "Muslimness" and we are the only religious group to use constant religious references with non-Muslims who have no idea what we mean. In so doing, we demonstrate a lack of vision and we continue to show intolerance towards "the other", while making unreasonable demands.

In Canada, they say that "he who sows the wind reaps the storm". Well in Europe, the tide is turning so quickly that if Muslims do not wake up, they will be swept into an abyss from which they are responsible.

The solution is simple.

It is difficult for Muslims to understand and accept that Islam is not the only faith that its message is not the only cause. Islam is the last, the youngest of the three Abrahamic monotheistic religions, yet Muslims are the most spoiled and those who behave the worst. Muslims can only advance if they do not seek out to other religious groups.

Muslims must also understand that criticism of their actions, their behavior is not Islamophobia (a term often used indiscriminately). Islamophobia is the "fear of Islam." Yes, the fear of Islam and Muslims and we do nothing to mitigate or eliminate this fear. Our impulse to defend Muslims, whatever they do is train to discredit us. We are not the guardians of our faith. Our only obligation is to learn to live in peace and harmony with all others, what we do very poorly. For example, it is rare that Muslims take time to discuss how treaties are non-Muslims in Islamic countries. If Muslims could practice their religion in the West and were treated as third class citizens, they would know better what discrimination and harassment mean really. We love to scream at "racism" at every opportunity, but they are silent when others are abused. Thus, in Switzerland, the minarets banned. Does this have any consequences for Islam? No. The first mosques had no minarets. They were added to many mosques after the death of the prophet, when Islam was becoming a political regime. But what is more important from a spiritual point of view is that the Creator does not live in domes or minarets, but in our hearts. Before starting to build minarets, first learn to build bridges with others.

Raheel Raza was one of three panelists for the public lecture organized by Point ROCKING October 2, 2008 in Montreal entitled Political Islam threatens our freedoms is also a member of the Muslim Canadian Congress (MCC), the only Muslim lobby Canadian which is not sponsored by foreign interests or by one or other of the countries of North Africa, Middle East, Persian Gulf countries or the Muslim world in general.

Hurray the Swiss, by Jacques Brassard

What a fabulous democracy than Switzerland! No, but you realize! The Swiss, in a proportion of 57.5%, have decided to ban the construction of new minarets (the towers of mosques in the top of which the muezzin calls to prayer) on Swiss territory. And this, in a referendum, the result of a popular initiative. As Jacques Demers say: "Chapeau! Swiss!"

I open a parenthesis on the referendum process of popular initiative. It doe's not exist here. In Quebec, only the National Assembly, on proposal of the Government, can trigger a referendum. During some discussion on democracy in Quebec, some players have already proposed to make it possible, as in Switzerland and in several U.S. states, the referendum initiative. The trigger might be, for example, a petition containing a specified number of signatures. I must confess that I was not at the time, very hot to go in this direction. However, I am announcing that I changed my mind. Quebec should adopt such a procedure. "The Swiss show us, writes Marc Lebuis in his excellent site, tipping point, something that Quebecers could do to counter their disconnection Ave political leadership, institutional and academic Quebec: claim right to hold referendums in order to remove the hands of our decision makers the power to make major decisions affecting seriously the fate of Quebec. All this is not just Islam as such, but also reform education, the course Ethics and Religious Culture, immigration policies and the principle of accommodation." According to you, the results are they similar to those of the Swiss referendum on minarets? Personally, I am convinced. And I am also certain that the reaction of our Želite right-thinking, multiculturalists, nerd-progressive preachers of "living together" flatten ventriste would be the same as that of the European oligarchies slavishly Islamophile and viciously Christianophobia: full of indignation contempt for the people considered ignorant, intolerant and racist. This divorce between the people and Želite is a widespread phenomenon in the West.

But is it a crime so heinous that the Swiss have committed? Nonsense! The minaret is not an essential element of the mosque. That of Jerusalem, for example, has none. Therefore, writes Barbara Kay, National Post, "Switzerland does not mosques, which are the site of activity and religious practice. She banished that is perfectly understood in Islamic countries as a symbol of cultural domination." Multiply the minarets in the West to civilization Judeo-Christian roots, is, for Muslims, a demonstration of their willingness to impose a conqueror, not only ostentatious religious symbols (minaret burka) but, more seriously, values contrary to ours. This is called the stealth jihad is a process of Islamization of Western societies. In Paris, for example, there are now streets are blocked at the hour of prayer to allow hundreds of Muslims to spread their mats and prostrate themselves. In Paris!

The most shocking in all this is to see Muslim leaders offended and cry to the oppression and discrimination on the grounds that freedom of religion and worship is shamefully flouted. There is something deeply repugnant in this attitude when we know that in the Muslim world, freedom of worship, often legally and practically does not exist. "In Muslim countries, writes Pierre-Andre Taguieff, Christians are particularly discriminated against and persecuted when they have not been expelled. In some Muslim countries in the name of Islam perpetrated massacres of civilians, targeted as Christians." He continues: "In Muslim countries that religious freedoms are the least respected: Judaism and Christianity are housed in the same boat. When Islam is state religion, intolerance is institutionalized violence against non-Muslims allowed, even encouraged, totalitarianism or watching reign."

Everywhere in the Muslim world, Christians are persecuted and often killed, their churches burned, their priests murdered. In Nigeria, there are hundreds of Christians were killed. In Pakistan too, the Islamists opened fire on worshipers gathered and burned their places of worship. In Iraq, the Christian community is endangered. And in the West face of this persecution, only silence and indifference. The "good conscience" who resent the Swiss vote on minarets (Foglia as, for example), they have never outraged the massacre of Christians in the Muslim world? The progressive self-righteous and well-talkies were they ever shocked the inferior status of Christians in Muslim countries (they are dhimmis, that is to say, inferior beings that have fewer rights than Muslims )? Do you? Why worry about those silly believers arrears? After all, they are only "cathos," as Ms. Bazzo disdainfully calls, the incarnation of the Quebec goche bon chic bon genre. Where, even worse, they are only remnants of the Age of Darkness, as the Copts in Egypt. So, sleep in our media and intellectual Želite is no upset because they were persecuted because they were bullied and because the murders.

But banning the construction of minarets, then there really any crime, regardless ignomonie, what meanness! Pour nos zélites frileuses et poltronnes, c'est du racisme, du sectarisme, du fascisme. For our Želite timid and cowardly, it's racism, bigotry, fascism. However, the Swiss vote does not affect the freedom of religion of Muslims, the minaret is not essential to a mosque. But we must understand and decode the message many of Helvetian. What Swiss reject, through the prohibition of construction of minarets, Islam is also a retrograde, primitive, hostile to the fundamental rights of the individual, anti-democratic and committed to a code of law (Sharia) incompatible with the founding values of the West.

Taj Hargey is the Imam of the congregation of Summertown, Oxford. This is called a "moderate Muslim", a rare species that would probably declare the species endangered. "When European Muslims, he writes, unthinkingly endorse this perverted theology by claiming compliance with a Sharia medieval character, justifying the honor killings, stoning and forced marriage, defending the uniqueness of 'Islam and the formation of separate communities, they cause fear and exacerbate hostility towards Muslims. When European Muslims are praised as little Koranic doctrines that wearing niqap, they exclude themselves from ALL OF THE COMPANY." These words of the comforting hand of a Muslim imam. The problem is that the imams of the milling are scarce and Islamic communities in the West are largely dominated by radical Islam and jihad and are therefore involved and compromised in the war deliver the Islamo-fascists against Western civilization. And will not believe it's different in Quebec and Canada. At home, the Muslims are refractory to integration into the host society. And with immigration levels adopted by the State of Quebec, the situation will only get worse.

Montreal welcomes an Islamist extremist in sheep's clothing, by Tarek Fatah

Tomorrow evening the citizens of Montreal will be treated to a spectacle of Islamist double-talk that will leave them dazzled. Tariq Ramadan will be speaking to a gathering at the University of Montreal.

This time the voice of Islamism will not be the regular run-of-the-mill shrieks by sheikhs, but delivered by a man with a mellow disarming smile. The guttural accent we have come to associate with angry mullahs of the Middle East will be replaced by milky English delivered with a French accent.

But make no mistake. The message of Tariq Ramadan will remain the same. The crudeness will be replaced by sophistication; the clumsiness by finesse. And Canadians, hungry for some sense of movement towards moderation in the world of Islam, will most probably lap it all up.So who is Tariq Ramadan?

My first encounter with him was in a TVO discussion about Sharia Law in Canada in 2005.

I had heard Tariq Ramadan had spoken against the idea of introducing Sharia Law in Canada. I was excited. The grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt would have the maturity and understanding to take a brave stand when the rest of the Islamist establishment was hell-bent on making sure sharia law found a foothold in North America.

However, my hopes were dashed when the live show went on air. Tariq Ramadan made it very clear. He was not opposed to sharia law coming to Canada; he just didn't think it was the right time to introduce it. In his words, Muslims were displaying a "lack of creativity". He suggested that rather than ask openly for sharia law, Islamists should have sneaked it in through the existing legal framework.

Taken aback, I was reminded of the Islamist doctrine of Taqiyaa, a dissimulation methodology employed to hide one's true agenda, which recommends appearing harmless to one's adversary with the objective of having them lower their guard. After the TV show, I did some research on Tariq Ramadan's position on Sharia law. In the issue of Egypt Today of October 2004, he wrote:

"The Muslims in Canada's battle to set up shariah courts to settle domestic disputes is another example of lack of creativity. Within the normative law in Canada, they have huge latitude for Muslims to propose an Islamic contract. These courts are not necessary; all they do is stress the fact that Muslims have specific laws and for the time being this is not how we want to be perceived. (emphasis mine). We need to show that our way of thinking is universal, that we can live with the law and there is no contradiction."

He continued:

"The term shariah in itself is laden with negative connotations in the Western mind. There is no need to stress that."

If I needed an example of doublespeak and dissimulation, I had found it.

On Thursday, the Muslim Canadian Congress and the Montreal-based Point de Basqule took out a full page advertisement in Le Devoir welcoming Ramadan to Quebec and Canada, but exposing the hidden agenda that has mesmerized so many naïve Westerners.

Titled, "Greetings to You, Oh My Brother!", Point de Bascule and the MCC described Ramadan as an Islamist ideologue who pretends to be a moderate, but acts otherwise. This was best reflected in his refusal to outrightly condemn the practice of stoning women. He has asked for a ‘moratorium' on such barbaric punishments.

Tariq Ramadan's conference on Friday evening is organized by a group of his disciples, but has the backing of many on the left as well as such partners as the l'Institut du Nouveau Monde and the Quebec Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities.

Ramadan reflects the new sophisticated arm of the worldwide Islamist movement, which sees the West as the right place to wage a cultural and intellectual jihad. It preys on Muslim youth who are tired of the old guard; men in beards and long frocks, frothing as they denounce the evil West. The new technique is to undermine the West from within, like parasites and termites, with the host society never knowing what hit it, until it is too late. UK is one example.

Those dazzled by the charm of the new Islamists need to recognize that Tariq Ramadan in 2003 praised a book written by Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, the radical Islamist sheik based in Qatar; the man who justified suicide bombing. Ramadan hosts a weekly show on the Iranian government's PressTV network. He has never dissociated himself from the Iranian regime, not even during the repression of protesters who were opposed to the "re- election" of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. As young Muslim men and women were being beaten up and tortured by the Iranian regime, Ramadan was quite happy to give the Iranian ayatollahs a pretty face.

I close with the words of French Muslim journalist Mohamed Sifaoui: "Tariq Ramadan is an Islamist. He is among those who want political Islam, the European version of the Muslim Brotherhood, to infiltrate institutions, society, associations, parties, the media and so on, in order to pressure these same societies, to "reform" them from inside, to Islamize them or re-Islamize them, the better to pervert them, to progressively bring them to accept a medieval vision of the Muslim religion."

Brother Tariq, your father Said Ramadan came to my birthplace Pakistan in 1948 as a Muslim Brotherhood emissary and was instrumental in turning a secular Muslim country into a hotbed of Islamic extremism. I will not let the son of Said Ramadan come to my adopted home Canada and do the same, without a fight. Your Islamist father ruined my birthplace; I will not let you ruin the place where I will die.

According to Mohamed Elmasry slavery under Islam = good as Christianity and = not good, by Jonathan Kay

This just in from former Canadian Islamic Congress chief Mohamed Elmasry: Islamic slavery wasn't all that bad.

Writing in The Canadian Charger — a newly formed internet-based grab bag of anti-Western articles published by hard left Canadian activists — Elmasry works hard to distinguish the evils of Christian slavery from the purportedly enlightened race-mixing that resulted from its Islamic equivalent.

Some snippets: "Islam, with no church, teaches that all humans, irrespective of their gender, skin color, and ethnic origin are capable of doing good; there is no original sin. The One God is the Lord of all, not of special people or tribe … Islam and Africa have made something of each other that is quite extraordinary … Islam teaches that slaves, who were then the result of wars, Africans or not, should be treated well and set free as soon as possible … Islam also teaches that slaves can buy their freedom in-kind. Thus many of them excelled to be teachers and even scholars … Islam teaches a slave is a victim of circumstances who should be helped to be free and treated fairly in the mean time. Trading in slaves is a sin. This is in contrast to the teachings of the Bible, 'Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling.' … The Arab Muslims called Africans Zanji (hence the island of Zanjibar or Zanzibar), Habashi (from Habasha, Arabic for Ethiopian) or Sudani (Arabic for black). Such names “were not derogatory but simply ethnographic … Some [slaves] achieved high rank and status …" And so on.

The basic theme is that Islamic slavery — to the extent it was bad at all (and it's not really clear that Elmasry thinks it was) — was an enlightened, almost consensual, win-win exercise in regional multiculturalism. In his characteristically absurd elevation of Islam over Christianity, he makes no mention of the fact that religious Christians led the abolition movement in the West — while slavery persisted wholesale in the Arab world until late in the 20th century, and still survives in parts of Islamic Africa, including Sudan. Indeed, one wonders what the Christian tribespeople from southern Sudan who have been abducted, forcibly converted to Islam, and enslaved by Arab Muslims in recent years would make of Elmasry's historical fantasies.

It's amazing, isn't it? Our Christian leaders seem to do nothing but apologize these days — for every historical sin under the sun. But here you have a man who recently led the most prominent Muslim activist group in Canada, and he thinks it's just dandy that his Arab forebears colonized and enslaved great swathes of Africa over the course of many centuries — a colonial situation that essentially persists in Sudan and regions of the Maghreb.

Remember this the next time Elmasry or one of his fellow travelers denounces Western "imperialism."

Arms transfers via Mirabel by the Americans to circumvent a ban, by Fabrice de Pierrebourg

Under the era of George W. Bush, the government of the United States has used Mirabel airport to ship in the greater discretion of weapons and ammunition to the monarchical dictatorship in Nepal to help crush the Maoist rebellion blood.

The following story, revealed by RueFrontenac.com is unclear. Nebula as all cases occurring in the universe opaque and murky network of arms sales.

This is further evidence that deliveries of arms to conflict zones warmer, whether initiated by states or traffickers shamelessly follow tortuous paths to muddy the waters, away from the curious, bypass embargoes or international treaties.

The actors, voluntary or involuntary, of this story worthy of a screenplay adventures are three states, several Canadian federal agencies, police, intelligence service and a former airline Bulgarian considered villainous. So many actors who lock themselves in a circumstance of silence when asked for explanations or comments.

The facts, as they are still carried by RueFrontenac.com, occurred at least twice during the summer and fall 2005. The last confirmed expedition took place at the end of October 2005.

The track of these weapons goes back to Maryland in the warehouse of a company that specializes in the packaging of dangerous goods or weak prior to shipment by air, land or sea. Founded by a veteran of Vietnam, it is one customers different official bodies, including the Department of Defense, the State Department and intelligence agencies.

How many times the company in question has intervened for the shipment of arms to Nepal or elsewhere via Canada? Unsurprisingly, the spokesman for the company declined to answer our questions because, says she, the identity of his client. "I can not reveal such information is confidential," she said.

From Maryland to Mirabel

At the end of October 2005, the first part of this long journey to Nepal was carried by road.

First step: Mirabel Airport. Protected by a sealed diplomatic, this shipment of weapons and ammunition had traveled under heavy guard. After the border of St. Bernard de Lacolle, there would have been escorted by agents from the Border Services Agency of Canada. The agency has also refused to issue a comment on this.

The plan provided that the lethal cargo would then be loaded immediately into the hold of an Antonov cargo plane belonging to the Bulgarian company Vega Airlines Ltd. A company in the roadmap lackluster, as you will see later.

Except at the end of October 2005, a grain of sand has slipped into gear, disrupting this scenario a priori perfect. For some reason, probably a permissions problem in formal Transport Canada, the Vega aircraft could land at the appointed hour. As result, it has been stored for a certain period of time the weapons and ammunition to their arrival in the United States. This was not without posing a serious security problem.

Emergency meeting

All this has not gone unnoticed by some on the tarmac at Mirabel. For its part, Aeroports de Montreal (ADM) had already been informed officially of setbacks. The regional representatives of relevant government authorities, that is to say, Transport Canada, RCMP, SQ and CSIS were in turn briefed. The case seemed so suspicious that these partners met to discuss the case as strange that embarrassing "felt the CIA," whispered in the corridors.

This event occurs when the scandal secret flights by the CIA to transport prisoners to countries subcontractor torture gathered momentum in the world. No wonder some people have even tried Mirabel examine more closely the contents of boxes loaded aboard the Antonov Bulgarian.

It was too late. Vega had succeeded in obtaining the necessary permits and had flown his plane in the Laurentians sky to its final destination. A long journey with stops in Gander, Shannon and Sofia.

ADM confirmed RueFrontenac.com these shipments of arms to a "foreign country". But contrary to claims not to have been "involved in the operation, while some binding procedures - and kept confidential - for special flights would otherwise be due to set in motion, we were told.

Anyway, this little trick has ceased thereafter.

A fierce repression

The case is emphasized when considering the political situation in Nepal at that time. Note that the local security forces had launched a brutal crackdown against the rebels of the Maoist Communist Party of Nepal. Several advocacy organizations Human Rights had repeatedly denounced the atrocities committed over the past decade.

In a report released in June 2005, Amnesty International denounced the "thousands of cases of arbitrary arrests, unacknowledged detentions, torture and" disappearances "attributed to security forces." He added: "The crisis of human rights has worsened in Nepal since 1 February when King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev has taken control of the executive."

Since the early 2000s, the United States, India, Great Britain and even China were among the main suppliers of weapons and ammunition Nepalese security forces. Following the complete takeover by King Gyanendra, India and the United Kingdom have decided to suspend all military aid to the government. On September 13, 2005, the spokesman of the Embassy of the United States in Kathmandu said that the Americans had just notify the Government of Nepal "> their intention to enforce the embargo and to suspend any provision of equipment which could cause death (lethal) as the situation would not be back to normal.

This was not the case in light of events in Mirabel few weeks later.

Unanswered questions

Today, many questions remain. Why, for example, have chosen Canada to ship weapons, ammunition and explosives to Nepal? Is there not enough airports in the United States? How many times has this happened?

We have joined the U.S. State Department to obtain more clarification. The agency has declined, suggesting RueFrontenac.com contact the Department of Defense ... who spent his tour and returned the ball in the State Department.

• In May 2006, Amnesty International and the organization TransArms denounced in a joint report that chain of illegal U.S. arms supply to Nepal. A road "very tortuous via Canada and Europe," we can read.

• The Antonov AN-12 Vega has also been seen several times on the tarmac at several Canadian airports, including July 8, 2005 in Hamilton.
