Bolivia - Nurses forced to wear the veil, by Iba Bouramine

"It forces us to commit ourselves to be hidden if we want to be employed in this hospital," said an employee of the new hospital "Islamic Republic of Iran" opened November 24 in La Paz with Bolivian President Evo Morales and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
By order of the director, the entire female staff of the institution must submit to the measure, reports La Prensa de La Paz. This news caused a stir in the country. The opposition to Evo Morales addressed the Head of State "sold" and letters to the editor of the daily overflow of outraged letters. "We respect the Iranian laws in Iran, but the Bolivians apply other laws that we will enforce," he finally said Ramiro Tapia, Minister of Health. Financed by the Iranian government, the facility will start operations in January 2010.
